The collection of articles deals with Carpathian-Balkan issues. The major topic of the book can be denoted
as the Carpathian-South-Slavic isoglosses in the whole depth of the question. The authors analyze the
ways of borrowing and cross-language contacts, define the areas according to the data of atlases (ACDA,
CDA, ALA) as well as the new field materials, describe language and ethnocultural interference in space of
the Carpathians and Balkans. The scholars also deal with the problem of ethnogenesis of the Slavs in the late
Common Slavic period basing on the facts of linguistic geography and archaeology etc. The articles are devoted
to the memory of the distinguished dialectologist — Galina P. Klepikova, especially to her input in the
creation of the modern carpathology — a complex academic linguocultural discipline which is concerned with
the past and the present of the unique zone of Carpathians. Many of the articles touch on the academic works
of G. P. Klepikova. In the collection special attention is paid to the pioneering directions in the Carpathian-
Balkan investigations — the effort to create linguocultural and geolinguistic ground, using the new field data
collected according to the ethnolinguistic questionnaire for further research of Carpathian-Balkan area in synchronous
and diachronous aspects.

The edition appeals to a wide range of specialists in languages and folk culture: dialectologists, etymologists, ethnolinguists, folklorists, ethnographers.
